 ABOUT OUR PRESCHOOL
Over The Rainbow Preschool was established in 1994. It is a program which was designed to develop and nurture young children socially, academically, physically and emotionally. Love, compassion, goodness, understanding and kindness are fostered through everyday activities. We have pleased many families throughout the years and will continue to do so. Over The Rainbow is filled with loving teachers who truly care about the well being of ALL the children. Each classroom has highly qualified teachers and our entire staff is CPR certified. A high quality education is one of the most important things
that we can provide a child. Exposure to a variety of topics, people and adventures all contribute to a fulfilling school
experience. EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Children learn best in an environment where they feel safe. They need to be surrounded by adults who care about them and encourage them to be successful and self-confident. They need to work and play in a place where the values of respect and love for one another are fostered. Opportunities must be provided to encourage and enhance language development, both receptive and expressive. Children also need to be given the opportunities to make choices and decisions on their own. Hands-on exploration of materials and concepts are provided on a daily basis. The development of gross and fine motor coordination must be accomplished by encouraging children to try activities where they will climb, crawl, jump, run, lace, string beads, handle pegs, puzzles, cut with scissors, writing, etc... All experiences and activities must be developmentally appropriate and tailored to the individual needs of the children as much as can be accomplished in a two hour forty fie minute day. Our primary goal at Over The Rainbow Preschool is to provide a safe, loving and caring environment in which children can learn and grow. HANDWRITING WITHOUT TEARS
"Handwriting Without Tears aims to make legible and fluent handwriting an easy and automatic skill for all students." The program works for children because it is easy to teach and learn. It also reduces the need for one-on-one time and remediation. Preschool is a crucial time when children mainly focus on "play-based, hands-on readiness activities and build their foundation for lifelong learning."
